Tina's way up
Chapter 1
It was raining again. Tina sped up her walk, trying to arrive to work before the rain will be heavier. Finally, only a second before there was loudly thunder, she burst into the restaurant. The bartender greet her with a smile. Tina smiled back, and went into the back room, hanging her coat.
She went out, and talk a little to the bartender, while picking up some glasses left from yesterday night on the bar, and moving them to the kitchen.
Tina liked her job. She lived two streets away from the restaurant. She lived in a small apartment, with her childhood friend, Sabina. She liked the way she lived now. She really liked her job, she served as waitress in a small and simple restaurant. It was not expensive one, and she got some nice tips from time to time. The owner of the restaurant was a family friend, and she got very good treatment, almost as she was his daughter. She really liked to work there. There were five more waitresses, and all were friendly.
They had some kind of dress code in the restaurant, but it was really loose: both the waiters and waitresses had to wear long Jeans pants and black t-shirt, and small black pinafore.
There was only one problem. The restaurant was almost empty most of the day, and afternoon there was some regular customers arriving to eat. The owner, always search for a ways to get some more mouths that will eat and pay.
Simeon, the owner of the restaurant, arrived ten minutes after Tina. Simeon, tall man in his fifties, his hair begun to have some grey threads, but he was muscle built man, with strong arms and lovely smile.
He greet everyone, which actually were only Tina and Henrik, the bartender, and the Chef of the restaurant that peep out from the kitchen. even the young su-chef did not arrive yet, but... there was no rush. There are still no dishes to wash, except the few glasses from the bar...
He told everybody that there is a new partner in the restaurant. The man, Jack, has some interests that the restaurant will gain more money, since he is the owner of a nearby hotel that tries to make more entertainment places for the tourists.
He told everybody that Jack will arrive tomorrow to the restaurant, so he asked them to be prepared, make the place tidy and clean, and serve the customer in the best way they can.
All the restaurants workers were really excited, since there was a real chance for a change. While arranging the tables for the afternoon regular customers, all of the waitresses and the bartender talked excitedly about the opportunities. After the last customer left, they cleaned the restaurant until it was shiny, and everybody left home.
It was still early, and Tina went home to find Sabina watching TV in the middle of the small living room. She changed quick to some training pants, and sat near Sabina. Sabina told her that she was almost all the day at home, preparing some paperwork for her lecturer in the university.
Tina, that always was glad to get out, dressed up quickly with black Jeans pants, sneakers, and heavy sweater, while Sabina wore nice dress, and they left the apartment heading to a pub.
On their way to the pub, Sabina point out that with Tina outfit, it is not going to be easy to catch some guys. Tina agreed, but she said that if someone is not happy with the way she like to dress - he can go and search a different women...
Sabina raised her eyes to the sky desperately, and smiled to Tina. They got into the pub of one of the hotels, while a waitress approach them.
They asked for some breezers, and when the waitress went out Sabina comment that the waitress is poorly dressed. Tina, claimed that the waitress is overdressed, and it is normal that she could not keep her clothes tidy during this long shift. Tina explained to Sabina, that in the restaurant she is working in, they don't have strict dress code, and this is the reason that they stay dressed sharply in the end of the shift, exactly as they were in the beginning of it.
But, she said - Look at her: She is wearing knee length skirt, that narrow her steps, high heels shoes that make her uncomfortable, buttoned up shirt, that you will not catch me dead in such shirt... and a necktie - which is obviously loose and not tight, since you can not work with such clothes...
Tina summarize her little lecture, explaining that the waitress should wear comfortable clothes, and thats way she will feel better and serve the customers better.
Sabina didn't agree with her, and they argue friendly some time, before going back home.

Chapter 2
On the next morning, Tina woke up early. She remembered that today the new partner that will own the restaurant will arrive to see it. She eagerly want to know if he can really bring the change, and hoped that she will be able to ask for a rise in her salary soon.
She quickly dressed up with her jeans and t-shirt, and got out of the apartment carefully to not wake up Sabina.
She arrived quick to the restaurant, and arrived early, as usual. only the bartender always arrived before her, which made her laughed with him that he sleeps over there.
Tina had great mood, and as she was full optimic today she begun to arrange the restaurant to the upcoming day.
Slowly her friends begun to arrive, and the restaurant has all the staff in. Tina arranged a new table in the minute that Simeon enter to the restaurant, accompanied with handsome man, which seems to her a little out of place.
Tina moved her sight along the restaurant, where she saw all the other team wearing the black T-shirts, jeans and aprons, her eyes landed on Simeon which wore black jeans and denim shirt, and moved to the man stands aside Simeon. He was dressed up in 3 piece gray suit, all buttoned up. he has silk necktie tightly tied to his throat. Tina decided that he is totally out of place here...
Simeon ask everybody to stop their work and come to say hi to Jack, which will manage the restaurant now with Simeon.
He has warm smile, and explain how he sees that the place will back to business. He said that he wants to connect the place to his hotel, and turn it into trendy cafe.
He told them about changes that should be in the menu, changes in the furniture, and in the accessories. From the other side, he said that he talked to Simeon and he is very pleasant with the team that run the restaurant.
But, in order to get the restaurant more trendy, there is need to do a total makeover to the place, which we already talked about, and to the uniforms as well.
Tina felt uncomfortable. just few days ago she talked with Sabina regarding the comfort of her uniform at work, and the look over Jack face, as well as the way he dressed up - didn't seem to bode well.
Jack look around, and told the team that later today everybody will get a pack with 3 sets of uniforms, for working at the cafe, and ask them to wear them from tomorrow morning.
He told them that they can go home, since the truck of the furnitures and will arrive soon to replace it, so the restaurant will be open tomorrow morning again.
Tina, happy for the unexpected vacation took the bag containing her new uniform, glance at it for a second, noticed that there is white shirt and something dark under it, maybe pants. She greet all her friends and went back home.
She entered her room, and open the bag in order to put the new uniform in the closet. she took from the bag 3 white long sleeve shirts, heavily starched, and hang them in the closet.
Then, she saw that there are no pants, but 3 dark long skirts. she put them too in the closet. the next item came out of the bag was waistcoat. it was gray, with some kind of white pattern over it. Tina was disgusted by the thought of what she is going to wear from tomorrow, and hang it in the closet. when she dropped the bag down in the closet, 2 more items fell from it. she picked them up - and she was holding two neckties, matching to the waistcoat.
She held it in her hands like a snake, then put them into the drawer. She felt that she need to forget of the new uniform, and not think of them until tomorrow.
She opened the TV, and watched some favorites shows, clean the house, read a book, and later this day - went with Sabina for shopping, then had dinner at home.
She told Sabina about the new owner, and she also told her about her new uniforms. When Sabina asks her to show the uniform, she told her that she don't want to talk about it or see them until tomorrow morning. Sabina checked in the closet, and came back laughs. she remembered the time that they sat in the cafe and saw the waitress with the uniform...
The morning arrived too soon, and Tina came out of the bed reluctantly. She open the closet, and took a shirt. She buttoned it up, leaving the top button opened. She took the skirt, and wore it. it was a little strange feeling, since she didn't wore skirts since she was a little girl. She put on some flats, and put on the waistcoat, buttoning it up. she felt too much overdressed...
She took her bag, and said bye to Sabina, and opened the door.
Sabina joked with her that the only thing that missing on her is a necktie, and Tina remembered that she shoved yesterday two neckties into the drawer.
She came back from her room holding the necktie in her hand, like a venomous snake. Tina looked at her, and asked her if she needed help.
Tina never wore a necktie, so she really needed it. But she said: “no, leave it alone. I will ask for some help in the restaurant:, But, Tina didn't listen to her, she took the necktie from her hand. Without talking, she buttoned up the collar of Tina, which was pretty hard work, since Tina not stop squirming and wriggling all the time, as the collar was really tight over her throat.
Then she tied up the necktie over Tina, pulling the knot perfectly into the collar. She fold down the collar, and said with a smile “Now you are perfect waitress”.
Tina didn't have time, she thank her quick and ran towards the restaurant. She could not actually run, since the skirt restricted her moves, and the collar was too tight, but she was afraid to mess up with the necktie that Sabina tied for her, so she leave it alone.
As she arrived to the restaurant, all her friends were already there. They all wore the new uniform, but some of them without the necktie, and all the other with loose necktie and unbuttoned collar.
Tina tried to loosen her necktie, but she could not unbutton the collar. So, she decided to pull the necktie back, since it seems for her too strange to wear buttoned collar without the necktie. Too dorky...
