The New House Empty The New House

Post by MatthewJames7 Sat Oct 10, 2020 3:43 am

Moving is never an easy thing. Being in a new area, new surroundings, new school, and new people. Mia was moving from central London to the south of England with her mother Kate who had been offered a very lucrative job. Mia disliked the idea of moving intensely because it meant she was leaving behind all her friends, her school, and the many fond memories she made.

Mia was a young girl of nineteen and she was told she was very pretty for her age. She stood five feet nine inches which the tall trait was common in her family. She had long chestnut-brown colored hair which she kept tied up in a neat bun to keep her long hair from going into her sapphire-blue eyes. Mia also loved being a smart dresser and often stood out at parties for it, many people proclaiming their awe at how she looked. In her spare time, Mia was a skilled musician and would often busk in the streets on the weekend with her friends, or play in bars. Her musical prowess had built her a vast impressive amount of subscribers on her Youtube channel She also loved painting, something she felt helped to soothe her stress after a long day at school. People in her previous neighborhood knew of her artistic talents and Mia often had her paintings exhibited in the town museum.

They were driving along in the car when Kate turned to Mia. "sweetheart, you'll love our new house, and you'll make new friends in no time at all." Mia scowled at her with anger. "It's the old ones I care about, Mum, the ones you are taking away from me." They eventually arrived at their new house which was looking out onto the beach, the ocean was as calm as a summer breeze and it seemed to go out for miles with no end in sight. They unpacked everything after about an hour or so. Mia marched upstairs in a fit of seething rage. Looking out her bedroom window, she saw thousands of people just sitting on the sand enjoying themselves, others were playing games of football and volleyball. There were other people just casually swimming about in the water, the sun shining down on top of them. As cool as it looked, it also made Mia feel homesick for her friends.

Kate called Mia downstairs where there was a beautiful blonde-haired woman standing in the doorway. Mia strolled down the stairs wondering who it could be. Kate turned to her and exclaimed, "Mia, this is Daniella, she's our new neighbor. She came to welcome us here, and invited us to a welcoming dinner party she's having later." Daniella expressed her delight when Kate told her that they'd love to come, smiled, turned on her heel, and walked back to her own house. Closing the door, Kate looked at Mia with determination. "Mia, we are going to that party. I have something for you to wear." She handed her a white shirt, a pinstripe suit, and a blue tie. Mia looked down at the tie with bemusement to which Kate exclaimed, "yes, Mia, that is a tie." Mia was still bemused at the fact that her mother was dressing her like a boy, but she knew it was pointless to argue as they did not have the time, Daniela's party was starting in an hour so they had to get ready quickly so that they wouldn't be late

I certainly will, but if you don't see a reply in the next day or two, don't worry I'll have it up soon. I'm absolutely inundated with college work but I'll definitely keep an eye out, I check nearly every day to see if there are any new posts so I won't forget at all

The New House Empty Re: The New House

Getting dressed, Mia looked at herself in the mirror. She was embarrassed by her outlandish attire and probably bored because she felt that the party would be nothing but adults chatting away about things such as their careers and other grown-up stuff that they would talk about, and she'd be the only young person at the party, and there were elderly people there, they'd be over-affectionate towards her. She knew there was no way of getting out of the party, she had to do it for her mother. Picking up her tie from her bed, she placed it snugly around her collar and proceeded to tie it in a Windsor knot, the only tie knot she knew how to do. Kate walked into the room, "Mia sweetheart, let's go, we can't be late for the party." Mia turned on the lock screen of her phone which read 18:30 pm. She knew by looking at her phone screen that it was going to be a long evening, a very long evening indeed.

They made their way over to Daniela's house, where she greeted them on the porch. There was an elderly, cantankerous looking gentleman sitting on the porch puffing on a cigarette, and when Daniela introduced Kate and Mia, the gentleman hardly looked up from his chair, but when he did, Mia saw his teeth, a dark- yellow hue to them, the man clearly hadn't heard of toothpaste or washing his teeth, Mia thought to herself. Daniela looked at him while saying to Mia and Kate, "Dad, don't be so rude. Kate and Mia are new here, the least you could do is say hello to them and welcome them to the area." He grumbled reluctantly in agreement, put out his cigarette on the ground, some of it landing on Kate's high heels, and walked back inside. Kate leaned down to wipe the bits of cigarette off her heels, Daniela's face was going scarlet at the embarrassment her irascible elderly father had just caused her. He returned a minute later with the pack of cigarettes he had taken one from earlier on, lit up another cigarette, sat back down on the chair, and resumed smoking.

The New House Empty Re: The New House

Post by MatthewJames7 Fri Oct 23, 2020 5:05 pm

The sun was starting to set which turned the sky a pinky-red hue. Mia looked down at the beachfront where there were people packing up their belongings after a long day of swimming and enjoying themselves at the beach. She wanted to be down there too, but she was upset at the fact that she had to be stuck at a welcoming party with her mother while wearing a ridiculous and frankly embarrassing suit and tie. Reluctantly, she followed Kate and Daniela inside the house. For a house in the middle of an estate by the beach, Daniela's hallway was massive. It had a large winding spiral staircase and the walls were covered in paintings. Daniela was secretly a very wealthy woman, and she had made her money from selling her various shares in companies and as a result, she had made millions and millions of pounds. Though she was wealthy, Daniela never liked to bring it up in conversation because she felt it gave her a superiority complex and that people would turn their nose up at her and call her a snob.

They walked into the kitchen where there were several people chatting away in little groups, the topics varied by each group. At that moment, Daniela rapped her fingers on a countertop and the room fell silent. Everyone turned away from their groups to face her. She spoke up, "everyone, this is Kate and her daughter Mia, they just moved in next door to me and I would like you all to make them feel welcome to the area and help them get settled." They all welcomed Kate and Mia in unison which was nice of them, Kate thought. A young woman approached Mia, who was slightly anxious about meeting new people. The girl spoke in a very elegant, soft-spoken voice, "welcome Mia, I'm Sarina. Nice to see someone my age around here for a change, most of the people here, their children are all grown-up and live abroad, work in highly paid jobs, and some other crap like that.  On the weekends, I do tarot readings on the beach, and during the week, I'm in school. Your mum has transferred you to my school so that we can go together and I'll help you integrate and generally get to know the place." Mia shook hands with her, the embarrassment still on her face about her attire. "This tie looks stupid on me, why Mom wanted me to wear it, I don't know. I look so silly in this suit. Sarina's probably laughing at me in her head", she thought to herself.

Mia and Sarina walked out onto the balcony that overlooked the front of the house and the beach. Daniela's father was still sitting on the porch smoking his cigarettes and took no notice of his granddaughter and her new neighbor sitting above him. Mia went to take off her tie when Sarina interjected, "don't take off the tie Mia, I think it looks nice on you and it goes really well with your suit. I know you think it looks embarrassing, but I think it's amazing and you really pull off that suit. Not many girls can pull off wearing suits, but you've got that talent for sure." Mia was blushing slightly at Sarina's praise of her attire, thinking to herself that maybe, just maybe, her negative opinion of the suit was beginning to change.

At that moment, two girls approached Mia, and one of them exclaimed, "so, you're the famous Mia, I've heard a lot about you, the name is Cameron and this is my friend Anna. I'm the head girl of Sarina's year and Anna is my second in command. Of course, it helps when you're the smartest and most beautiful girl in the year. My mother is the chairwoman of the board of directors. I'd like you to meet her, Sarina, you stay where you are, this is a private conversation." Mia looked at Sarina and shrugged her shoulders, but reluctantly followed Cameron. Approaching her mother, Cameron spoke up. "Mother, this is Mia, she's the new student in the school." Cameron's mother turned around, shook hands with Mia, and exclaimed, "Mia, lovely to meet you. I'm Lenora, Cameron's mother. I've heard great things about you from Cameron. She speaks very highly of you, and she tells me you are quite the young artist, both musically and with painting. You stick with Cameron in school and you will be ok, don't listen to Sarina. Cameron is a true role model for the students and everyone worships the ground she walks on, and if you stick with her, they'll soon feel the same way about you too."

Should Mia become friends with Cameron or Sarina, and if so what path will she take? The good-hearted path with Sarina, or become friends with Cameron and becomes more self-centered and cruel.
Let me know in the replies, and give me some other story progression ideas.

All the best and mind yourselves during these troubled times
