George Sand (her real name was Amantine-Lucile Aurore Dupin) was a French writer during the 1800s.  She was known for wearing men's clothes (as well as smoking cigars).  Actresses who portrayed her in film include Judy Davis, Juliette Binoche, and Danuta Stenka. 

I'm surprised Salma Hayek never bothered to portray George Sand, since 1) she is fluent in French, 2) she used to like cigars, and 3) she has dressed as a man several times (2014, Frida, and the 1990s).
