Restaurants and Bars
I think this would be a good place to start a list of Food/drink places where our favourite outfits can be found. Living in the middle of a city I see a fair few places - some well known some not (Manchester UK based)
Frankie and Bennys - probably the best of the lot. Own ties, White shirts and waistcoats. Usually big knots and fully buttoned
Bella italia - company tie, White shirt and apron
Cafe rouge - company tie, White shirt and apron
Malmaison bars - all black shirt and tie
Thistle hotels - all black again
Some Irish bars - waxy o Connors is good but a lot of unbuttoned shirts - White shirt and black tie
Mr Thomas chop house - White shirt, yellow tie and waistcoat
Sam's chop house - same company, different ties...
Harvey nicks - White shirt, black tie and waistcoat
Got any more?

Hotel Uniforms
I have found that a large amount of good hotels in Ireland feature their staff in shirt and tie uniforms.

Re: Restaurants and Bars
I went into my favourite local Frankie and Bennys this week only to find that the nice ties have been replaced by clip on ones with a logo on. Most disappointing and probably lessening my chances of going there so much.
For me, a clip on tie is probably worse than an open shirt. They don't fit and certainly don't look nearly as smart. I've always found that wearing smart clothes to work makes me more likely to perform well as you look so much more professional. This move can only lead to sloppiness

I'm pleased to say that not all F&B have succumbed to the clip on. Last night I was in one of their outlets where there was 6 ladies all dressed in fully buttoned fat tie look. Most arousing...

Re: Restaurants and Bars
This place in Coventry has some rather nice waitress uniforms with crisp white shirts and some rather nice full black bows. When I was there, one waitress wore her collar and bow rather more strictly than the other.

Re: Restaurants and Bars
I was in Stansted Airport on Sunday and three waitresses in Frankie and Benneys had excellent striped ties with large knots done up snugly to their white collated shirts. They they were not very busy and they were standing out front moving to the music and messing about they looked great. I think complimenting well tied ladies might encourage some of those with loose ties to tighten up.

Sadly a lot of the above will be out of date now and I don’t see many such outfits these days. Any exceptions?
