Xerxes, I agree, it doesn't look classy at all. I, like you, prefer a suit with the shirt tucked in, the collar tightened, top button closed and tie pushed up to the top

There's no need to berate other people's posts.  If you don't like the content of the post, just ignore it and move on.

I stand by my comment. I make no apologies. The forum can be better structured for all whatever your preference. It's not personal and should not be considered personal in nature. It just so happens that this particular post has been used as the example of the moment to demonstrate my point. It could easily have been another post from another registered account. The person who posted this is irrelevant to the point being made, and should not take the comment personally. An open and debated discussion around the issue would be useful at this point.

I respect everyone's point here, and meanwhile I think some standards must be set to maintain the quality of the content in our forum. Some people (like me) find neckties attractive, while others like bow ties more. There is no good or bad taste among the two; they are simply different tastes. However, I believe the neckwear should always look proper and snug, no matter the person in the picture is wearing a necktie or a bow tie. That's the thing that brings us here, and I believe at least we should adhere to this standard (or ones with similar details) when we upload things. Being respectful to other people is one thing, while keeping the standard is another. They shouldn't be mixed and messed.

The thing is while some people like neckties and others like Bowties, while others like both.... it's not an issue as there is separate categories for both. There is however no categories for "12 buttons undone" or "tie that touches knees" etc (I am sure there are better labels but I'm trying to reflect the very quite different individual preferences.
