The Love Boat

Some time ago I posted a group shot of the showgirl troupe appearing in the final season, including Teri Hatcher (who later became famous for other things). I've seen videos of all their dance routines but those didn't involve any interesting outfits, but recently all relevant episodes came up on Youtube (search for season 9) and I got the explanation for the promo pics. Seems those ladies pulled double duty as dealers in the ship's casino, and these were their uniforms for that job.
While it might seem like a wasted opportunity to never have them perform in bow ties, I do understand wanting to keep the roles separate.

Those are the main sightings, though there was a couple of episodes (08x26 & 08x27) where guest star Linda Purl masquerades as a man. Here's a shot of her brief post-reveal scene:



I haven't seen much of earlier seasons, there might of course be some other scene somewhere but I probably won't watch it all on that off-chance. Please tell me if you know of any, though!

I'm a realist and that inevitably comes with a reputation of being a Negative Nancy around here. I used to think those Altissimo high collar shirts were amazing, fascinating and interesting until I discovered the truth behind them. It is basically 99% likely those Love Island shoot collars and bow ties the lovely ladies are wearing are nothing more than velcro straps.

That's possible, even probable. But even if they are, so what? The look and quality of the actual bows are nicer than most (if a bit oversized) and at least for the purpose of stills the illusion is upheld.
I'm no fan of the tearaway tuxedos so often used on stage and have refrained from posting several videos just because they weren't "real" - a shame since Heidi Klum looked pretty good until hers came off - but in this case I felt it didn't matter much since they complete the loop around the neck and fit snugly enough. Does it matter much at what point the collars close, and in extension, are pre-tied bows in general unacceptable? Because that would invalidate 95% of all sightings.
Same with the white waistcoats traditionally worn with tails - even if they're little more than bibs they are considered the real thing because that's how they're usually made. As long as the jacket covers up the straps, there's no telling the difference.

There's nothing wrong in being a realist - I tend to consider myself one (at least to me it makes having fantasies feel more of a treat) - and it's certainly alright to find things uninteresting or unappealing. However, outright lamenting the lack of a 'dislike' button on a forum might be considered somewhat negative - most people simply scroll past posts that don't interest them. Just sayin'.
(That said, you did have a nice point about a 'loose ties' category - it's a great addition and helps sorting immensely, plus avoids disappointing those hoping to see the lady in the title wearing a neatly knotted one! )
