Second Life
Me and my lady love have used this virtual world for fun and games for quite some time now - but if it's one thing it's especially suited for, it's playing dress-up!
Using a male avatar would not do much for me doing that, though, so we're both female when in SL...as are a lot of other men, of course.
Thought I'd share pictures of some of the outfits we've picked up over time - if you don't mind computer-generated graphics, it actually doesn't look too bad. Gonna post a few in the regular tie section as well, but since bow ties are my main thing, I naturally have a bit more of those!
A few of my outfits:
And a couple of hers:
Still, it's more fun to dress up together:
Best part about the clothes in SL is that you can always make your own if you can't find what you're looking for. Worst part is that they don't always look good when you move - shoulder pieces often disappear in animations, even if that might not totally ruin it. Here's a couple examples of that:
I know some of you are particularly into white tie and tails; who isn't? If you're wondering if that's available in Second Life as well, the answer is: of course.
Yes, practically anything's possible in SL - there's probably animations for just about everything. And if there isn't you can always make one or have one commissioned. The little piece of furniture below had a couple hundred built in, so now we can even have breakfast in bed, or read, or cuddle, or...eh. I believe those things were actually thrown in as an afterthought...
If you haven't had a look and are interested, it's free to download and free to use - though you have to pay a little to other users to buy the stuff they make. There's enough freebies around to last you a looong while though, so just have a look around if you feel like it!
Oh, that's right...there's some sort of holiday at the moment, isn't it?
Guess we'd better put on some appropriate gear then...
and prepare some props...
aaand...
Enjoy!

Re: Second Life
Well, it's not so much a game as a hyper-interactive chatroom, so there are no specific rules as how to do it, as long as you are not being rude to others.
Otherwise, it basically works like this:
Create an avatar and name it, then enter the world. First thing you want to do is right-click it and "Edit my shape" to make it look the way you want. They all look horrid at start since they just have a default, unshaded skin, so next order is using search and look for "freebies". Select any place that looks like they have a large selection and click teleport. There you can right click boxes or posters containing clothes and skin and hair and eyes and stuff and buy what you want - they should cost 0 L$ each in freebie places. If you want to buy more expensive stuff you have to link your account with a PayPal one, but that's not required and all info is on their homepage if you wanna know how.
Then you can start searching for places to visit, and press enter to open a chat wíndow to talk - if you want to send a private message, right-click that person and choose "Send IM".
Those are the basics, really - you'll pick it up as you go along. There are lots of tutorials online on how to make your own stuff to use as well. Hope this helps!
To compensate for all this text, I made a picture as well that I thought would be appropriate for midsummer; enjoy!
